Is Haber's method a complete replacement for traditional playback?
It's not a replacement for playing intact records with a stylus, but rather a method for recovering sound where traditional playback is impossible or would cause irreparable damage. Many historical recordings are too fragile to be played physically. Our optical approach offers a way to access the sonic content of these otherwise lost artifacts, preserving them for future study and enjoyment without further degradation.
