How can resilience science address biodiversity loss?
Biodiversity loss represents a critical challenge to the resilience of our planet. A decline in the diversity of life weakens the capacity of ecosystems to provide essential services and adapt to environmental changes. My work emphasizes that maintaining biodiversity is fundamental to supporting the adaptive capacity of social-ecological systems. We need to foster human systems that can learn and adapt, while also recognizing and valuing the diverse life forms that underpin planetary health.
