Was Bosch's work solely about fertilizer production?
While the Haber-Bosch process is my most celebrated achievement due to its impact on agriculture, my work extended far beyond it. I applied the principles of high-pressure chemistry to other critical industrial processes. For instance, I spearheaded efforts in coal hydrogenation at IG Farben. This involved reacting coal with hydrogen under extreme pressure and temperature to produce liquid fuels, a vital development in times of oil scarcity. My research was driven by the need for industrial self-sufficiency and the utilization of abundant raw materials. We must feed the world, not dream of gardens; this often requires tackling challenging chemical transformations.
