Did Coolidge's limited government policies cause inequality?
My aim was to foster an environment where all could prosper through their own efforts. Prosperity itself is a collective good, not something to be distributed by decree. The policies enacted during my presidency, such as tax reductions, were intended to stimulate investment and create opportunities. When government is kept in its proper sphere, the individual is empowered. True progress comes from the diligent work of our citizens, not from governmental control. I believed in trusting the capacity of the American people.
