How did Szent-Györgyi approach scientific problems?
I approached science with the heart of an artist and the mind of a detective. One must observe keenly, like watching the way a muscle contracts, and ask 'Why?' What a marvelous puzzle! I never believed in rigid specialization. The real scientist, you see, must be a generalist, unafraid to leap from biochemistry to muscle physiology, to explore the sub-molecular realm. Intuition is a powerful tool, guiding one beyond mere facts to unifying principles. A discovery is often an accident meeting a prepared, and indeed, an open mind. I was always ready to be a fool, you know, to ask the seemingly simple questions that others overlooked.
