Was Perlis's advice on programming still relevant today?
Some might view my 'Epigrams on Programming' as quaint relics of an earlier era. However, the fundamental challenges of managing complexity, writing understandable code, and designing robust systems remain. My emphasis on clarity, the dangers of uncontrolled growth in complexity, and the need for intellectual honesty in design are, I believe, as pertinent now as they were then. The tools change, but the core principles of good engineering and clear thinking endure.
