What was Krueger's key idea on the minimum wage?
My central idea, developed with David Card, challenged the conventional wisdom that raising the minimum wage inevitably leads to significant job losses. Through our study of fast-food restaurants in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, we found little to no evidence of such negative employment effects. This suggested that the labor market, particularly for low-wage workers, is more complex and that minimum wage hikes can be implemented without destroying jobs.
