How did Banisadr blend Islam with economics?
My approach was to start from a spiritual foundation – the concept of tawhid, or the unity of God – and to extrapolate its implications for social and economic organization. This meant critiquing systems that imposed artificial divisions. I drew inspiration from thinkers like Frantz Fanon and John Maynard Keynes, not to mimic them, but to understand the mechanisms of modern economies and to adapt them to an Islamic framework. The goal was to create an economy that served the unified human community, rather than one that exploited or divided it.
